3/26/12

Today we needed to go to the grocery store. (7/11 just wasn’t going to cut it. We needed baby supplies.) Kathy was busy with other families doing official stuff, but she has a friend in town who has a 16 year old daughter who wants to practice English. So, this very sweet girl, Lilly, (her chosen American name) went with us in the taxi to the grocery store.

Well, we got "home", and Violet would not fall asleep for her afternoon nap. She just rested, so after an hour of resting we just turned the lights back on and let her play. (She was in pants and a shirt instead of onesie. She found her belly and was quite entertained by it.) At that point we figured a cruise until 8:30 pm was probably not a good idea. We told Kathy that we wouldn’t be going to the cruise and then she offered for Lilly to take us to dinner!

We had a great time. We walked about 8 minutes from the hotel and found a place that was fast but not fast food, sit down but not fancy. She ordered a bunch of things – some kind of ribs, a noodle soup, and an egg baked dish. It was great. They had no baby seats, though, so it was tricky keeping Violet busy and happy and away from the hot dishes. On the walk home, Lilly wanted to run into 7/11. (There is one practically every block it seems like.) She got a magazine and also came out with ice cream cups. (Boy, she figured us out fast. :)) We went to the hotel playroom so Violet could crawl around and we ate our ice cream and talked. Then a few other American families with little ones came in. One family had 2 sons (around 11 or 12 or so) who had the stinkiest feet ever! We booked it out of there! (Is THAT what we have to look forward to with our boys?? Ick.)

It was a nice relaxing day and we had a very fun time with Lilly.

Tomorrow is the zoo trip to see pandas.
