The Story Up 'Til Now

Back in the fall and winter of 2005 (yes, 2005) Ken and I began to think about growing our family through adoption. We realized it was truly in our hearts, and we began the process of adopting a child from China.

Our paper chasing, including home studies and citizenship and immigration approval, took quite some time, but our completed dossier arrived in China, and was "logged in" on 8/10/2006. We had officially begun the wait. At the time we thought we would be parents within a year. Little did we know...

The wait began to lengthen and lengthen even more. By the winter of 2007 we realized we would not be matched with a child still for years. That is when we started the process of adopting from Kazakhstan (while remaining in the process with China). As most of you know, we adopted our boys from Kazakhstan and returned home with them in Feb. of 2009.

Time has gone by quickly since then! The boys have grown so much! They speak fluently in English now, are learning tons of new things at school, and are doing really well!! We are so happy with, and grateful for, their growth and development! They are amazing kids!!

Here we are in Sept. of 2011, though, still waiting to be matched with a child from China. As of today, the Chinese government has matched children with families whose paperwork was submitted on July 14th of 2006. Our paperwork was submitted on August 10th of 2006. How many more months will it take until we see the picture of our daughter - we do not know. The number of days matched each month varies, but I believe (hope, pray, wish?) that we will be matched with a child within the next few months.

If you'd like to follow our process in this exciting time - join us here!
